A Franklin County native and Carnesville resident is now the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Highway Maintenance Foreman for the Interstate 85-Jackson County maintenance crew.

DOT District Engineer Bayne Smith, Jr. announced recently that James “Bradley” Veal has been promoted to that post.

Veal has worked with the Georgia DOT since 2005, serving in the Maintenance division throughout his entire career.

He began in his new position on October 1.

As highway maintenance foreman for Interstate 85 in Jackson County, Veal’s job involves ensuring mobility through preventative maintenance, crash clean-up, and damage repairs. He is responsible for all lanes of state routes and Interstate 85 in Jackson County.
