DOT Announces Weekly Routine Maintenance

The Georgia Department of Transportation will conduct routine maintenance in a number of area counties this coming week.

No work is planned for Stephens County.

However, on Interstate 85 in Banks County, a crew will remove and re-pour damaged concrete slabs in the outside or right lane of I-85 north beginning north of Exit 149 starting on Monday.

The DOT said work will progress north in the outside lane daily and long delays are expected in the area.

Meanwhile, a crew will trim vegetation on Interstate 85, closing the shoulder as the work occurs.

Elsewhere in Franklin County, a crew will trim vegetation growing in the rights of way alongside State Routes 327 and 145, after which the slopes alongside State Route 106 will be mowed.

All of that work will require the shoulders of the roadways to be closed.

In Banks County, a crew will clean and restore ditches alongside State Route 51, then manually trim the vegetation growing in the rights of way. That work will require the shoulders of the road to be closed.

Moving to Habersham County, a crew will mow rights of way alongside State Routes 255, 17, and 105, closing the shoulders for mowing.

Another crew in Habersham County will replace raised pavement markers on state routes throughout the county, work that will require a rolling lane closure.

The DOT said that if weather permits and everything goes as scheduled, crews will work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
