Domestic Violence Awareness Walk Saturday

October 11, 2013

An event Saturday in northeast Georgia is designed to help bring attention to Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes,” will take place Saturday in Cornelia.

The event is put on by the Mountain Judicial Circuit’s Family Violence Task Force and Circle of Hope.

During the event, men in the community show intolerance for domestic violence by walking in women’s high-heeled shoes.

The walk starts at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Cornelia.

Circle of Hope, a local agency that serves survivors of domestic violence and their children, is also holding its inaugural “Home Sweet (Safe) Home” campaign this month to collect household items for participants in their Transitional and Supportive Housing Programs.

For more information on these events, call Circle of Hope at 706-776-3406.
