Dogs Seized Last Week Going Up For Adoption in Atlanta

Some of the dogs seized last week from Stephens County by numerous agencies will be up for adoption by the Atlanta Humane Society at its facilities this weekend.

Nearly 40 dogs were seized from a location on Prather Bridge Road last Friday in a joint effort of Toccoa-Stephens County Animal Control, the Georgia Department of Agriculture, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, and the Atlanta Humane Society.

Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter Director Jeff Roberts said that the dogs came from a licensed breeder.

According to Roberts, the dogs were subject to conditions such as a lack of a safe water source, proper food, and properly clean kennel area.

Also, Roberts said some of the dogs had health issues.

State Agriculture Department officials said that the individual with the license surrendered that license to state officials.
