DNR Trout Meeting Next Week in Gainesville

A public meeting is coming up next week in Gainesville to discuss the possibility of opening all trout waters to year-round fishing.

The meeting will take place at the Fair Street Neighborhood Center at 715 Fair Street in Gainesville on Thursday, November 13 at 7 p.m.

Officials with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said that agency staff have recently evaluated the effects of removing the “trout season” entirely and opening all trout waters to year-round fishing and now the department wants public input.

Currently, trout streams are designated either seasonal or year-round.

State DNR officials said these public meetings will provide an opportunity for interested citizens to hear more about the reasoning and research behind these possible changes from staff, as well as ask questions and provide feedback.
