Dillard House President Passes Away

Rabun County is remembering the President of the Dillard House this week.

Dillard House President and CEO John Peter Dillard passed away Sunday at the age of 69.

He took over as President of the Rabun County landmark establishment in 1989.

The Dillard House was established by his grandmother, Carrie Edwards Dillard, back in 1917.

Besides heading up the Dillard House, Dillard was also a member of the University of Georgia President’s Club, a past member of the Rabun County Chamber of Commerce, a city of Sky Valley Councilman, served on the Rabun County Hospital Board, the CVB Board, was a Past Director of the Rabun County Development Board, and was on the board of Paws for Life.

In a statement this week, the family said, “John’s wifeand his two children, Natalie Dillard Cross and John Earl Dillard, will continue their best efforts to honor the legacy of John Dillard and the continuance of the Dillard House.”

Dillard’s obituary states a private memorial service would be held at a later date.
