A reception last week at the Stephens County campus marked the occasion.

North Georgia Technical College Acting President Dr. Mark Ivester said the school is very excited to mark the occasion.

He said the Currahee Campus means a lot to North Georgia Technical College.

“Over 5,000 students in these 10 years,” said Dr. Ivester. “Over 1,000 graduates. You can just see it is a big need in the community.”

In 10 years, North Georgia Technical College estimates that the Currahee Campus has held over 1600 events and served over 100,000 visitors.

Also, out of the 5,000 students that have enrolled at one point or another, 2,700 of those are from Stephens or Franklin counties, while 37 different Georgia counties are represented by the student body.

Located in the Hayestone-Brady Business Park on Highway 17 between Toccoa and Martin in Stephens County, economic development is also a part of the Currahee Campus’s mission.

Dr. Ivester said that is a function the school is proud to help wih.

“We do a lot of work with Franklin, Stephens, and Hart counties and the industries that come in,” said Dr. Ivester.

As for the future, Dr. Ivester said North Georgia Technical College has big plans for the Currahee Campus.

“We just added the health wing and we are excited about it,” he said. “We would like to do more with our industry programs, just any way we can serve the community.”

The Currahee Campus is one of three North Georgia Technical College campuses. The other two are in Clarkesville and Blairsville.
