Courthouse Receives Historic Plaque

Main Street Toccoa unveils the latest in its series of historic plaques.

The eighth historic plaque in the 2015-2016 series of ten plaques dedicated to downtown buildings was unveiled on Thursday at the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.

The historic Stephens County Courthouse was built in 1907 and was renovated by the county in recent years.

It now houses county offices and county commission meetings.

The historic plaque program highlights ten historic buildings each year in Toccoa and the remaining plaques are set to follow each month.

City officials said once all plaques have been installed, a walking tour podcast will accompany them to further bring historical awareness to downtown Toccoa.
