County Waives Building Permit Fees; Grants E911 Address Variance

Stephens County Commissioners will waive building permit fees for a local company expanding its facilities.

Tuesday, the county commission unanimously voted to waive around $39,000 in building permit fees for ASI related to its expansion in the Meadowbrook Industrial Park.

County officials note that as part of that expansion, ASI donated its current Highway 123 plant that it will be leaving to move into the expansion to Stephens County government for its use in the future.

Meanwhile, the county commission also unanimously voted to grant a variance in E-911 addressing for ASI Southeast for its facility in Meadowbrook related to the expansion.

County officials say that ASI wants to have a street number of 123 for the facility in commemoration of the Highway 123 plant it used for years.

According to county officials, granting the variance to allow that will not have any affect on anyone else on that street.

In other action from Tuesday’s Stephens County Commission meeting, the county commission approved a motion to provide property located behind the road department’s fueling depot for a firing range to be built for the Sheriff’s Office and approved the purchase of a new truck for the Public Works Department in the amount of nearly $95,000.

Both of those approvals were unanimous.
