Corps Opening Hartwell Lake Campgrounds April 1

The Savannah District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it will open a number of campgrounds and day use areas on Lake Hartwell on April 1 for the 2015 recreation season.

Those include Crescent Group Campground in Anderson County, South Carolina; Springfield Campground in Anderson County, South Carolina; Twin Lakes Campground in Pickens County, South Carolina; Watsadler Campground in Hart County; Singing Pines Day Use Area in Anderson County, South Carolina; and Twelve Mile Day Use Area in Pickens County, South Carolina.

Hartwell Lake Corps Park Ranger Tanya Grant said campsites can be reserved up to six months in advance, adding that the Corps recommends campers make reservations to secure their favorite campsite as campgrounds are already filling up for upcoming spring breaks, and spring and summer holidays.

Reservations for campsites and day use shelters can be made by calling the National Recreation Reservation Service toll-free at 877-444-6777 or by going online to www.Recreation.gov.
