The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says annual day-use passes for Corps lakes, including Lake Hartwell, are now available for purchase.
The annual pass costs $30 and is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Passes can be purchased at the Hartwell Lake Visitor Center in Hartwell, as well as the J. Strom Thurmond Lake and Richard B. Russell Lake Visitor Centers.
According to the Corps, the pass can be used at any Corps-operated day use recreation area throughout the nation. Corps day use areas typically include boat launch ramps, designated swimming beaches, and picnic areas. For a complete listing of Corps recreation areas, visit www.corpslakes.us.
Officials said the annual day use pass does not affect campground use and fees.
Corps officials said that annual passes sold in 2013 will have a “2014” expiration date sticker and add that visitors should hang the pass from the vehicle’s rear view mirror so the expiration date on the decal will show. Officials went on to say that open vehicles such as motorcycles or jeeps should display the decal directly on the rear view mirror, or some other easily visible location on the vehicle.
