New 2014 annual passes for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers day use recreation areas are now available for purchase.
The Corps said those interested can buy them at the Corps’ Savannah District’s three dam and lake projects on the upper Savannah River.
That includes the Hartwell Lake Visitor Center at 5625 Anderson Highway in Hartwell or at any Corps campground office at Hartwell Lake, as well as the Thurmond Lake Visitor Center in Clarks Hill, South Carolina or the Russell Lake Visitor Center in Elberton.
The annual pass costs $30 and is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.
Annual passes sold in 2014 will have a “2015” expiration date sticker.
The Corps said visitors should hang the pass from the vehicle’s rear view mirror so the expiration date on the decal is visible from the windshield.
As for open vehicles such as motorcycles or jeeps, the Corps said people with those should display the decal directly on the rear view mirror, or some other easily visible location on the vehicle.
Corps day use areas typically include boat launch ramps, designated swimming beaches, and picnic areas.
The annual day use pass does not cover camping fees, picnic shelter group reservations, and other fees.
The pass can be used at any Corps-operated day use recreation area throughout the nation.
