August 26, 2013

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hartwell Lake Office, in partnership with the Lake Hartwell Association, is announcing the Annual Hartwell Lake Clean-Up Campaign going on now through September 28, National Public Lands Day.

The Corps is asking for volunteers from scout groups, civic clubs, and businesses needed to pick up litter and other non-natural debris on and around the lake. The Hartwell Lake Cleanup campaign is part of the nationwide National Public Lands Day observance that began with the idea that millions of Americans who use public lands could spend a day giving back to their land and country.

Upon registering, volunteers will receive more detailed information, including safety tips and litter collection areas. All registered participant will be invited to the Volunteer Appreciation picnic on September 28. The picnic will include children’s activities, food, and door prizes.

For more information and to find out how to register, contact the Hartwell Lake Office at 706-856-0300, or toll-free at 888-893-0678 extension 329.
