Cops and Kids Deemed a Success

Some local children will have a happier Christmas this year, thanks to help from the local chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police.

Earlier this month, officers with Chapter 105 of the Northeast Georgia Fraternal Order of Police took children from several Northeast Georgia counties shopping for gifts at the Toccoa Wal-mart as part of their Cops and Kids program.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jeff Love is the Secretary and Treasurer for the local FOP Chapter.

He said this year they had an increase in donations, which allowed them to help 33 children.

Each child got $100 to spend on items they needed, such as clothes as well as toys and other fun things for Christmas.

Love said the shopping day went well and was a fun day for everyone.

Meanwhile, Love said now that this year’s shopping event is over, the chapter is already planning for next year.
