Continuing Burglary Investigation Leads to Second Arrest

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said another person faces charges and his office has recovered additional stolen property in connection to an alleged residential burglary.

In October, investigators with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office arrested 42-year-old James Richard Gibson of Martinez, Georgia and charged him with a burglary on Shangri-La Drive.

Initially, authorities recovered several thousand dollars of items that had been taken.

Shirley said continuing the investigation led to more of the stolen property.

“This past Thursday, investigators were continuing to follow up on leads and were able to locate where the additional property was located,” said Shirley. “Investigators executed a search warrant at a home on Eastanollee By-pass in Eastanollee. They were able to recover the remaining items that were very expensive, designer bags, as well as cosmetics. Investigators also recovered methamphetamine during the search.”

Shirley said that as a result of the search, authorities have taken charges against 35-year-old Kimberly Dawn Devault of Eastanollee By-pass Road in Eastanollee of Felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of Methamphetamine.

The sheriff said that as of Tuesday afternoon, Devault had not been taken into custody and remained at large, adding that authorities are actively looking for her.
