Collins Supports Innovation Act

December 6, 2013

9th District U.S. Representative Doug Collins has welcomed the passage of a House bill he said will improve the U.S. patent system.

Collins spoke on the Innovation Act Thursday.

Congressman Collins said that beyond giving American inventors the certainty and dignity their work deserves by protecting the value of patents, the Innovation Act brings cost-saving measures to hardworking Americans by curbing abusive patent litigation that costs our economy both  time and money.

Collins said the Innovation Act also reforms the American patent system to increase transparency and encourage small business growth through education.

The bill passed the House 325-91 and will now go to the Senate.
