Collins Comments on Ryan Becoming House Speaker

9th District U.S. Representative Doug Collins has issued a statement on the election of Representative Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House.

The Hall County Republican joined the rest of the Georgia delegation in voting for Ryan on the House floor Thursday when the Wisconsin representative was elected to replace John Boehner as the House Speaker.

Collins said he looks forward to holding Ryan accountable to the new Speaker’s promise of returning the House to regular order and creating a more inclusive process that will be open to all Republican ideas.

He went on to call Ryan a respected colleague and said Ryan’s experience as Chairman of both the House Budget Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee will bring much needed fiscal discipline to the legislative body that controls the purse strings.
