Coan Wins Three Golds

MCoan-picClarkesville’s McKenzie Coan finishes her Paralympic Games in Rio de Janiero with four medals and three of them are gold.

On Friday, Coan won her third and final gold medal in the women’s S7 100-meter freestyle swimming competition.

Coan took the gold with a time of 1 minute, 9.99 seconds.

That was good enough for a 2.81 second win over silver medalist, fellow American and training partner to Coan, Cortney Jordan.

It was the second time that Coan and Jordan finished first and second during these Paralympic games.

They did so in the women’s S7 400-meter freestyle as well, with Coan taking the gold in that also.

Coan’s third gold medal came in the women’s S7-50 meter freestyle, a race in which Coan set a new Paralympic record.

She also won a silver medal as part of the 4×100 freestyle relay team for the United States.

This was Coan’s second Paralympic Games.

She swam one event in London four years ago, finishing sixth in the women’s S7 400-meter freestyle.

Coan is the daughter of Teresa and Dr. Marc Coan.

Dr. Coan practices internal medicine at the Toccoa Clinic.
