Class of 2016 Graduates From SCHS

Referencing Robert Frost, student speakers at Friday’s Stephens County High School graduation urged the 226 members of the Class of 2016 to take the road less traveled.

Stephens County High School’s Class of 2016 graduated in a ceremony Friday night at the Currahee Arena.

The ceremony was indoors due to inclement weather.

Valedictorian Ellen Brock is headed to Truett-McConnell University next year.

She told her fellow graduates to set an example and strive for success.

“Staying in your comfort zone does not always allow you to achieve your goals,” said Brock.

Meanwhile, salutatorian Emily Morgan, who is headed to the University of Georgia, urged her classmates to learn from their mistakes.

She also said that no matter what happens in the future, they will always share the road they have traveled so far at Stephens County High School.

“No matter how long we stay in touch, the memories will last forever,” said Morgan.

Meanwhile, Stephens County High School Principal Sandy Steele told the class and their family and friends that he had really gotten to know this class over its four years.

“This is a special group,” said Steele. “They are one of a kind and I mean that in a really good way.”

Friday’s graduation ceremony also included special music performed by Bethany Krauch.

The Class of 2016 at Stephens County High School earned a total of $1,305,070 in college and local scholarship money.

In addition, it has the potential of earning another $2,635,200 in HOPE Scholarships over the next four years, which would make $3,940,270 in total scholarship money over four years.
