City Hall Phones Should Return to Normal Later This Week

Phone lines are expected to be back up and running as normal at Toccoa City Hall later this week.

For the past several weeks, the only line that people have been able to get through on when calling Toccoa City Hall is the main line at 706-886-8451 after problems developed with the phone system.

Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse said a new phone system already planned prior to this issue is scheduled to be installed this week that will get all of the city’s phone lines up and running.

Morse said the past several weeks have been a challenge dealing with the problems with the phone system.

“One good thing is that our customers and people calling in should not have had a problem,” said Morse. “We have been able to get the incoming calls. It is what we do with those calls once we get them as far as transferring them to different departments. That has been a challenge for city employees. We are looking forward to getting our new TruVista phone system.”

According to Morse, once the new phone system is up and running, all of the city’s phone numbers will remain the same as previously.

He said he appreciates the efforts of the city’s employees and the patience of the public as the city dealt with these phone problems.

“We do appreciate the public’s patience and certainly appreciate the employees that have had to struggle through this process,” said Morse.

Until the new phone system is up and running later this week, anybody attempting to reach any department at Toccoa City Hall should still call the main number at 706-886-8451.
