City Fixes Thursday Morning Water Line Break

Toccoa city officials said Thursday afternoon that everything was getting back to normal following a water main break just off of Falls Road early Thursday morning.

According to Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse, it happened sometime after midnight into early Thursday morning when it appears that a vehicle struck a fire hydrant along Rock Quarry Road.

Morse said the vehicle drove off, but as a result of the fire hydrant being struck, that broke one of the city’s 10-inch water lines.

He said city crews were able to get out and repair the line and restore service, though Morse said about seven customers right in that area were put under a boil water advisory due to the line break.

The Toccoa City Manager went on to say that whatever struck the hydrant left the scene before crews or authorities arrived.
