City Commission Approves Grant to Upgrade Schaefer Center

A resolution for a grant to continue upgrades to the Schaefer Center was approved by the Toccoa City Commission at their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday.

City Manager Billy Morse said that the Appalachian Regional Commission has funds that are available to renovate several parts of the Schaefer Center.

“The Appalachian Regional Commission, which we know as ARC, has funds that are available and we would like to apply for a grant to renovate the Schaefer Center balcony, dressing rooms and entrance plaza,” said Morse.

Morse said that this has been a goal of the city commission and was recommended by the Downtown Development Authority.
The projected cost of these renovations is $100,000 and requires a 50 percent match by the city.
