City Approves Firm For Henderson Falls Park Design Services

The city of Toccoa takes another step forward towards renovations at two city parks.

Monday, city commissioners unanimously approved the Optim Group of Carnesville to conduct design services at Henderson Falls Park.

Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse said that the city has the money put aside to pay for this already.

“The budget includes funds to pay for design services,” said Morse.

The cost will not exceed $8,000, said Morse.

Toccoa has a total of about $200,000 in grant funds and SPLOST V money set aside for a wide range of improvements at Henderson Falls Park.

Those planned improvements include a new observation deck at the Falls itself, upgrading the lighting, painting and re-wiring the picnic shelters, replacing fencing around the tennis courts, and re-surfacing and re-striping the parking area and entrance drive.

Meanwhile, Morse said the Optim Group will also submit design work for Emory Johnson Park, where the city is also planning to undertake some renovations.

“We want to do both of those projects at the same time,” said Morse, who added they would like to get started as soon as possible.

Morse said previously the city plans to use SPLOST money for Emory Johnson Park renovations and design services.
