City Approves New Lease for Doyle St. Park With Little League

The city of Toccoa will continue to have Toccoa Little League use and manage the Doyle Street Park.

Monday, the city commissioners unanimously approved a new lease agreement with Little League for the Doyle Street Park.

Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse said there are no changes to what has already been in place between the city and Little League.

“We had two separate agreements and they were combined into one,” said Morse. “Basically, it allows Little League to maintain and manage Doyle Street Park through December 2021. That includes four fields. There are three buildings that go with that.”

Morse said Little League is not charged to use the facility, but is responsible for all maintenance and operations.

Meanwhile, Morse said that the city is continuing to evaluate its lease options for Alewine Park.

Currently, the city leases that to the North Georgia Soccer Association, which is also known as the Rapids Futbol Club.

The soccer association said it only needs two of the three fields and multiple groups have expressed interest in the third field.

Morse said the city needs to finalize its arrangements with the soccer association first.

“E.O. Foundation submitted their proposal at that meeting so we have a copy of that and we know Little League would like to use that third field, but I think it is a little early to determine what that third field is going to be used for because we have not worked through all the details with the soccer association and that is who we have the lease with,” said Morse.

Morse said city commissioners will probably need another work session to deal with the matter.
