For those who have enjoyed the Ida Cox Music Series this summer or have not been there yet, the city is adding two more concerts to the series this summer.
Thanks to a grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts, Main Street Toccoa is adding two additional shows to this year’s Ida Cox Music Series.
They are this Saturday, August 2, as well as Saturday, August 9.
Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said they are excited for this opportunity to put on two more concerts.
“The August 2 concert is ‘The Trey Ward Band’,” said Crosby. “They are a band out of South Carolina that we have had before for our Harvest Festival and were very popular. They are a country band.”
She said the August 9 concert is “Still Cruzin.”
“They are a beach band and they are also very popular around the area,” said Crosby.
Ida Cox Music Series concerts take place every Saturday night at 7 p.m. outdoors on Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa.
They are free to attend.
This year marks the 3rd year for the concert series.
Crosby said it just continues to grow.
“We have had a great response and every year it just keeps growing a little bit more,” said Crosby. “This year, we took a survey every year to see where the attendees are coming from and they are coming from all over the region.”
Also, two weeks remain in the Summer Movie Series at the Schaefer Center.
This Thursday is “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and next Thursday, August 7, is an encore presentation of “Frozen.”
Admission to the movies is $1 and they start at 7 p.m. both nights.
