Child Injured in Habersham Raid Leaves Hospital

July 2, 2014

The young child injured during a SWAT team raid in Habersham County is out of the hospital.

The family said that they are headed back to Wisconsin, where the child faces a long recovery.

The child was injured in late May in Cornelia when authorities conducted a “no-knock” search warrant at a home the boy and his family were staying at as part of a drug investigation.

As authorities entered the home, they threw a “flashbang” grenade in and it exploded, causing serious injuries to the child.

The GBI is investigating the incident at the request of Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Brian Rickman to determine if the child’s injuries were the result of a criminal act.
