Chase In Toccoa Leads to Charges

Additional charges are possible after a brief car chase last month in Toccoa.

It occurred on the afternoon of November 23, just before 2:30 p.m.

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell said an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on an individual on Big A Road who police knew was wanted on an outstanding parole warrant.

However, Jarrell said the vehicle did not stop immediately.

“A short pursuit occurred reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour until the driver stopped his vehicle at Waffle House behind the Wal-Mart Shopping Center,” said Jarrell.

Jarrell said that 30-year-old Korey Ryan Holland of Toccoa was driving the vehicle and was immediately charged with Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer and Driving with a Suspended License.

However, Jarrell said more charges are possible based on what was found during a search of the vehicle.

“As a result of his arrest, we were also able to locate a handgun, a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, and what we believed to be a hand-rolled cigarette of marijuana,” said Jarrell.

Jarrell also said that police are investigating Holland on another matter as well.
