Charges Filed Against FCSO Deputy

Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland says he expects to file charges against suspended Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputy Kevin Bowers.

Bowers is currently being treated at a north Georgia medical facility after an altercation last month.

The incident happened in the early morning hours one day in July when Bowers got into an argument with a fellow deputy at his home in Hart County, according to the Hart County Sheriff, who says that Bowers pulled a gun on the deputy, asked him to leave, and then remained in the home for four or five hours before being taken into custody without incident.

Nobody was harmed during the incident.

Sheriff Cleveland says warrants were issued last week for Bowers in Hart County on charges of misdemeanor simple battery, family violence, and felony aggravated assault.

Meanwhile, Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas says that Bowers was suspended from duty after the incident.

Thomas says that Bowers was suspended in lieu of termination after the incident and adds that the suspension will stand until further investigation is complete.
