Chamber Holds Ribbon Cutting For Longstreet Cancer Center

cancer centerThe Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday for the Longstreet Cancer Center.

The Longstreet Cancer Center is under the banner of the Longstreet Clinic in Gainesville.

Dr. Anup Lahiry is the medical oncologist and hematologist for the Longstreet Cancer Center.

He said they appreciate the support they have received from the community.

“Basically, I am providing the chemotherapy,” said Dr. Lahiry. “The radiation center provides the radiation. We can also look patients’ hematological problems, like anemia, low platelets, leukemia, and clotting problems.”

He said that the Longstreet Cancer Center also can do lab work and it participates in some clinical trials as well.

Dr. Lahiry is on site at the Longstreet Cancer Center on Tuesdays.

The Longstreet Cancer Center is located on Falls Road in the Toccoa Cancer Center.
