Today is the 43rd anniversary of the Kelly Barnes Dam break in Toccoa. On November 6, 1977 the Kelly Barnes Dam above the Toccoa Falls gave way during a heavy rainstorm. A wall of water washed over the dam, flooding the campus and killing more than 30 people, many of them entire families.

Toccoa Main Street’s Pumpkin Daze Fall festival is this weekend. Pumpkin Daze will replace Toccoa Main Street’s traditional Fall Harvest Fest this year due to concerns of the spread of COVID-19.
