Stephens County is hosting an anniversary celebration this weekend for two Camp Toccoa regiments.

The 70th Anniversary Celebration for the 511th and 517th Parachute Infantry Regiments who trained at Camp Toccoa will take place today and Saturday.

Saturday, a program to recognize the two regiments will take place at 11 a.m. on the Camp Toccoa site on Currahee Mountain.

The event is open to the public.

Other activities for the regiments and their families are scheduled as well.

Also this weekend is the 2nd annual Camp Toccoa at Currahee D-Day run.

It is scheduled for Saturday at 8 a.m. when runners will take off to tackle the “3 miles up and 3 miles down” of Currahee Mountain.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the restoration of the Camp Toccoa at Currahee property.
