Christmas activities continue this weekend in northeast Georgia.
On Saturday, the annual “Truckers for Kids” toy run will return to Toccoa.
This is the 18th annual big truck toy run to collect toys, clothes, baby items, and more for children and families in need in northeast Georgia.
Organizer Bear Weaver says that the public is welcome to head out during the afternoon hours Saturday, especially between around 3:30 and 6 p.m., to Stephens County High School to look at the trucks and talk to the drivers prior to the run.
Then at around dark Saturday, the trucks will leave Stephens County High School and travel up Big A Road to Currahee Street, then down Currahee to Broad Street, up Broad Street to Highway 145, then onto Rose Lane, and back to Stephens County High School.
The public is also invited to turn out along the parade route to watch the trucks go by.
Meanwhile, tonight is the Lavonia Christmas Festival in downtown Lavonia.
Sponsored by the Lavonia Downtown Development Authority, Director Marie Morse says the annual event will include lots of fun and entertainment.
She says there will be food, arts and crafts, farmer’s market vendors, carriage rides, and more.
The Lavonia Christmas Festival will take place in the Gazebo area of downtown Lavonia starting at 5:30 p.m.
