Boys and Girls Club Fundraiser Coming Up

The Toccoa-Stephens County Boys’ and Girls’ Club will host a fundraiser later this month at the Currahee Club.

On Thursday, September 29 at 6 p.m., the Toccoa-Stephens County Boys’ and Girls’ Club will have a “Celebrity Game Night” fundraiser at the Currahee Club.

Boys’ and Girls’ Club Board President Emeritus Gary Donahue said that teams of four people each will compete against each other in a number of different games that night.

“They will be competing in 12 events,” said Donahue. “It is a little bit different than the ‘Hollywood Game Night’ that inspired me to do this as a fundraiser for the club.”

Events include cornhole, Dance Dance Revolution, Skeeball, and more.

The teams will be scored and winners that night for the competition will also receive cash prizes.

It costs $200 per team of four people to sign up, or $50 per person, and space is limited to 25 teams.

According to Donahue, he says there are some team spots still open.

Also, people can attend the event that night, which will also have other activities, for $25 admission.

Donahue said all of the money will benefit the programs at the Toccoa-Stephens County Boys’ and Girls’ Club.

He said among other things, the club provides children in the community a safe place after school.

“What tugs at my heart is that two Tuesdays ago, we had 128 kids at the club and that just blows me away,” said Donahue. “And I think, ‘If we didn’t have this club, where would those 128 kids go?’.”
