A Toccoa man faces charges in connection with a residential burglary earlier this month on Big A Road.
Toccoa Police Department Chief Tim Jarrell said that an officer responded to the 600 block of Big A Road at about 3:45 p.m. on January 12 in reference to a report of a burglary.
“Sergeant Joe Smith responded to the call,” said Jarrell. “While meeting with the complainant, he was able to determine that there was some silverware that was taken from the residence, along with some silver coins. An investigation conducted by Sgt. Smith led to the recovery of all of the silverware and the coins and the arrest of Matthew Alan Cordell.”
The 25-year-old Cordell was charged with burglary and theft by deception.
Jarrell said that the items Cordell allegedly took were worth several hundred dollars. The items were recovered at a local business to which Cordell allegedly sold the items.
Jarrell also commended Sergeant Smith for doing an excellent job handling the case and the ensuing investigation to make an arrest in the case.
