An annual fundraiser to benefit the Stephens Education Literacy Foundation is coming up this week.
The annual BEESMART spelling and trivia bee is this Thursday at 7 p.m. at a new location this year, Stephens County High School.
Stephens Education Literacy Foundation Executive Director Ellen Alligood said they are looking forward to a great event.
“We have about 14 teams this year, which is really good,” said Alligood. “We will have dinner for the teams in the bistro and then move to the Tugaloo Center for the event, which we are really excited about.”
Tickets are $3 each and there will also be a silent auction.
Proceeds benefit the Stephens Education Literacy Foundation, or SELF.
Alligood said SELF’s goal is to support literacy and education efforts throughout the community.
This is Alligood’s first BEESMART bee as SELF Executive Director, as she took over the position around the end of April.
She said she is really enjoying working with SELF.
“It is a great job,” said Alligood. “I have a great board. It is great to be able to refer to people to literary opportunities because there is such a need in this community.”
Again, the annual BEESMART spelling and trivia bee is this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Stephens County High School and once again, our own Connie Gaines is serving as host for the event.
