“Babe” Heffron, Member of Easy Company, Dies At 90
A member of the famed “Band of Brothers” has passed away.
Multiple media outlets are reporting that Edward J. “Babe” Heffron passed away Sunday at a New Jersey hospital.
He was 90 years old.
Heffron was a paratrooper in Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
The 506th Regiment formed and trained at Camp Toccoa in World War II and Easy Company was at the center of the famous “Band of Brothers” book and TV mini-series.
Heffron fought in several major battles, including Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands and the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne, Belgium.
He also helped liberate a German concentration camp and seize Hitler’s “Eagle’s Nest.”
Heffron received the Bronze Star during the Battle of the Bulge.
