Two people face charges after authorities executed a search warrant last week at a Toccoa residence.
According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, agents from the Mountain Judicial Circuit NCIS Team, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, and Toccoa Police Department executed a search warrant on Elberton Street.
Shirley says that as a result of the search, a quantity of marijuana weighing 11 ounces was seized, along with $6,000 in cash and two handguns.
The sheriff says that authorities arrested 28-year-old Jeffery T. Smith and 25-year-old James Mackey, both of Elberton Street in Toccoa, and charged them with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
According to Shirley, Smith was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and Mackey was also charged with obstruction of law enforcement. The sheriff states that Mackey jumped through a closed window and attempted to flee the residence on foot before being caught.
Elsewhere, the Sheriff’s Office reports that it arrested 31-year-old Michael Edward Setren of Shorewood Circle in Toccoa for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and other charges after a license check on Oak Valley Road that took place on October 6.
Finally, the Toccoa Police Department is reporting that it arrested Kelly Lamar Stancil of Davis Avenue in Toccoa for possession of cocaine and other charges following a traffic stop in the early morning hours of October 7 on Davis Avenue.
