Arrest Made in Martin Burglary

A Stephens County woman is charged in connection with an alleged burglary in Martin this week.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said it started when deputies were summoned to a coin laundry on North Red Hollow Road in Martin in reference to a burglary in progress at about 11:20 p.m. on Monday.

“Dispatch gave out a description of the suspect’s vehicle that had left,” said Shirley. “They were able to make contact with the vehicle and deputies were able to match tools located inside the laundry with tools inside the suspect’s vehicle.”

The Georgia State Patrol assisted the Sheriff’s Office on this case.

Shirley says deputies arrested 37-year-old Kimberly Ann Smith of Eastanollee and charged her with Burglary, Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime, and a host of traffic violations including Failure to Maintain Insurance, Suspended vehicle registration, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Possession of an Open Alcohol Container.

The sheriff says Smith remains in the Stephens County Jail at last report and the incident remains under investigation.
