A local organization makes a donation to the Schaefer Center.

Monday, Toccoa’s Post 104 of the American Legion officially presented a donation of an American flag to the Schaefer Center in downtown Toccoa.

Post 104 Commander Alan Woodie said that a number of the Legion’s members attended the re-opening of the Schaefer Center in December.

Woodie said those people came away with the facility.

“One of things that some of our members missed during that show was seeing the American flag on display,” said Woodie. “Understanding that the renovations are a work in progress, inquires were made to see if flags had already been purchased and secured. Through these discussions, it was determined that there was something specific our American Legion Post could contribute to your renovations.”

Woodie went on to say that the American Legion was very pleased to make the donation.

Toccoa Mayor David Austin thanked the Legion on behalf of the city, saying the city appreciates the contribution.
