All-State Football Teams Announced

Two Stephens County Indian football players achieve all-state recognition from Georgia sports writers.

Recently, the Georgia Sports Writers Association announced its all-state football teams in each classification.

Stephens County’s Ben Cleveland was named to the First Team Defense as a Defensive Lineman.

Meanwhile, quarterback Mason Long received Honorable Mention All-State Recognition from the Georgia Sports Writers Association.

Region 8-AAAA was well represented on the AAAA all-state team.

North Oconee running back Kawon Bryant was named AAAA Offensive Player of the Year and Buford Head Coach Jess Simpson was named the classification’s Coach of the Year.

As a team, Buford, which won the AAAA state football championship, placed nine players on the AAAA first team, second team, or honorable mention.

Meanwhile, North Oconee had four players receive either first team, second team, or honorable mention all-state recognition.

Franklin County’s Will Bryan also achieved All-State football recognition.

The Franklin County offensive lineman was named to the First Team Offense for the AAA classification in Georgia.
