Airport Authority Makes Proposal to Foothills Aviation

The Stephens County Airport Authority is still working to settle a dispute with one of its tenants.

Foothills Aviation filed an informal Part 13 complaint earlier this year against the airport with the Federal Aviation Administration.

That complaint accuses the airport of unjustly discriminating against Foothills Aviation in regards to the Airport Authority not allowing Foothills to continue leasing hangar space since Foothills’ lease expired.

At a called meeting Monday, the Airport Authority  approved a temporary proposal for Foothills Aviation.

“We enter into a 18-month lease agreement based on performance from both parties,” said Authority member Chris Irvin.

Airport Authority members also included in the motion that after 18 months and the expiration of the lease, the Airport Authority would put out requests for proposals for leasing that space.

There has been no word yet as to whether Foothills Aviation has accepted the Airport Authority’s proposal.

Airport Authority officials say they hope this will help the two sides move towards a resolution of the legal issues at dispute.

While nobody on the Authority voted against the proposal, member Tommy Gilmer abstained.
