Accident Cleared on Toccoa By-pass

December 11, 2013

Everything is back to normal on the Toccoa By-pass after a two-vehicle accident earlier this afternoon.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said the accident happened between 1 and 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of the By-pass and Memorial Drive.

Shirley said it involved a pick-up truck and a truck from Toccoa Service Gas and the gas truck overturned during the accident.

The sheriff said that there was no leakage from the truck, but that the By-pass was closed in that area for about 90 minutes while the accident scene was cleared up.

Shirley said both drivers were transported to Stephens County Hospital, but added the injuries did not appear to be serious in nature.

He added that the Georgia State Patrol would handle the accident investigation.
