“A Taste of Toccoa” Takes Place

The rain holds off and visitors enjoy a nice night for “A Taste of Toccoa.”

The 26th annual “Taste” took place Thursday night in downtown Toccoa.

“Taste” is an annual event at which local restaurants and caterers can show off their specialty menu items in smaller portions.

Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said organizers were pleased with how things turned out after a questionable weather forecast.

“We are very, very thankful that the weather turned out so nice,” said Crosby. “We had a great crowd. We had a lot of families here. There were a lot of rides and some really good specialty foods, so I think it was a great evening.”

Crosby went on to say that Main Street appreciates all of the volunteers that lend a hand to help “Taste” happen.

“We have the Junior ROTC that comes and helps us out and they do a lot of the grunt work and we have just so appreciated it,” said Crosby. “They put up the tables and chairs and they do it willingly and with such a sweet spirit. We also have volunteers who help collect the tokens, count the tokens, and we really appreciate each and every one that is a part of it.”

Main Street will now count up all of the tokens, as well as the votes on the People’s Choice Award, over the next week.

Next Friday, the city will announce the award winners from this year’s “Taste” at an event at Toccoa City Hall.
