‘A Taste of Toccoa’ Is A Month Away

The city of Toccoa is gearing up for an annual Spring tradition downtown.

It’s the 25th annual “A Taste of Toccoa” and it is coming up on Saturday, May 2.

This year, the event is changing to a Saturday during the day instead of on a Thursday evening.

Toccoa Main Street Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said that it is a change that has been thought about for some time.

“For several years, we have had people asking us to have it on a Saturday instead of on a Thursday night because it was kind of difficult with games and school the next morning and for some of our restaurants it was kind of inconvenient,” said Crosby. “We decided this year, because it is our 25th anniversary of the event, let’s do it on a Saturday.”

As a result, this year’s “A Taste of Toccoa” will be on Saturday, May 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa.

Like in past years, it will feature food from local restaurants and caterers in Toccoa and Stephens County, along with entertainment and children’s activities.

However, Crosby said this year, there will be even more events.

“We chose that Saturday because that is the same day that the Currahee Artists’ Guild has its art show and also this year, the city of Toccoa is sponsoring a classic car show as a fundraiser for Relay for Life,” said Crosby.

Crosby said they are hoping for a big turnout to this year’s “Taste.”

She added that there is still time for restaurants and caterers to sign up to participate.

“This is to spotlight those businesses specifically, so we encourage them to participate,” said Crosby. “We are hoping for a great turnout.”
