2014 Drier Than 2013 In Downtown Toccoa

A look at the final rainfall numbers for downtown Toccoa in 2014 shows that while it lagged way behind 2013, it was not far off when compared to the years before that.

Downtown Toccoa received 47.96 inches of rain during the last 12 months.

That is more than 35 inches less than 2013, when downtown Toccoa received 84.04 inches of precipitation.

However, when compared to the two years before that, 2014’s final rainfall total for downtown Toccoa falls right in line.

Downtown Toccoa received 50.05 inches of rain in 2012, a couple of inches more than in 2014, and 46.43 inches of rain in 2011, just a little less than downtown Toccoa got last year.

The 47.96-inch total precipitation figure also comes in lower than 2010’s 53.25 inches and 2009’s 86.10 inches in downtown Toccoa.

Meanwhile, Stephens County starts 2015 not facing any abnormally dry or drought conditions, just like in 2014.

That is according to the last U.S. Drought Monitor report for 2014.

Looking around Georgia, no part of the state is currently under any level of drought conditions, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

However, a small part of the state, mainly in east-central Georgia, is considered to be “abnormally dry.”
